5 Tip Tuesday: How You Can Support a Woman In Business
We’ve made it clear that we want to see more women succeed in the workplace. Too many women are afraid to go after what they want, and those without apprehension are still faced with a number of obstacles. This week, we’ve got 5 tips on how you can support a woman in business.
1. Shop the Neighbourhood
As you know, here at Black Leopard Public Relations, we are big believers in supporting local businesses. The Yellow Pages has started a great initiative called Shop the Neighbourhood, which encourages Canadians to shop locally. On Saturday, November 29th, businesses in your area will be offering exclusive deals. Why not use this opportunity to support female business owners near you? You can use their website to find more information on the participating local businesses.
2. Friends and Family
Ask the women in your life how you can assist them in achieving their professional goals. Sometimes there’s more to supporting a business than buying product. Maybe a woman you know could really use a babysitter so that she can attend a conference or two. Not everyone is comfortable with asking others for help. Offering a helping hand could make a huge difference.
3. Mentorship
If you are a woman in business, find another woman who is interested in being mentored. By providing opportunities for growth, you can strengthen and expand the circle of women who are making an impact on their respective industries.
4. Celebrate her success
When you see a woman doing great things, let others know! Does she make a great product? Has she been recognized for an award? Give her a shout out via social media. Even if you don’t know her personally, it could be the start of a great professional relationship. Her work gets recognition and you get to expand your network of ambitious women. Everyone wins.
